Recently I've been having a clear out and came across some of my old sketchbooks from sixth form and the first printmaking module I did at university 12 years ago! To honour Throwback Thursdays I'm going to be putting up posts every Thursday in October with some sneak peeks at my old sketchbooks. I don't know about you but I love flicking through a really thick sketchbook filled with lots of bits and pieces in different materials!
Here are a few shots from one of my university printmaking sketchbooks - part two to follow next Thursday!
When I started out printmaking I focused on the different marks you can make using different mediums in etching. This moved on to looking at similar marks in screen printing which you can spot in the picture below in blue. You can see lots of the same colours I still use today in Ink and Bear! In screen printing you create all of your patterns in black first to create the stencil ready for the screen - the shots below show some of this in progress.
