How to Guide: Screen Printing with an Embroidery Hoop

It's a funny old time at the moment with the world going into lockdown, and to help keep people busy at home I'm putting together and sharing a series of 'how to' videos with different screen printing and craft techniques. I hope you'll find them useful!

Up first is a how to guide on screen printing with an embroidery hoop at home. It's an easy to follow guide for adults and older children (younger children too with help from an adult!). Most of the equipment and materials used in this guide can be bought from Ebay, Amazon and other online retailers for a reasonable price, and some of it you might have knocking about at home! The materials you'll need are:

Organza fabric

A hard piece of cardboard

A paint brush

A teaspoon

A pencil

Scissors

An Embroidery Hoop (the one in this guide has a diameter of 18cm)

Paper and/or Fabric Glue (Mod Podge for Fabric works best)

Screen printing Ink - suggested online retailers for this include Pick Pretty Paints, Handprinted, Hunt the Moon and Speedball.

The technique to follow with this equipment is in the video below - I hope you enjoy watching it and if you follow along and join in I'd love to see what you create! Please send it through to me at sophie@inkandbear.co.uk or tag me on Instagram via @inkandbear and #createwithinkandbear.
